Zamboni! – Some Haiku About Ice Skating

Rumbling on the ice,
The magical snow beast. Hail,
Mighty Zamboni!
__________
Shaved, sprayed, smoothed–the ice,
Soothed, waits once again for the
Violence of skating.

And the Results are in…..Autumn, Then Winter Haiku Contest

First, an apology for those of you who may have checked out this blog several times today looking for results. I am sorry for not keeping my promise. The cynical may view it as a plot to up my blog hits for the day ;)

At any rate, at long last the results are here!

And, dear reader, if you live in the United States, I hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day and were able to enjoy some good food, some better fellowship, and to be able to take a moment to be thankful for the blessings in your life (which we can do no matter where we live). In fact, I need to take some do that right now! Amongst too many things to mention (I am a very blessed man), I am thankful for you, my readers, who encourage me to keep honing away on various avenues of creativity.

The “Autumn, Then Winter” Haiku Contest is Up – Some celebratory haiku of my own

We have fifteen haiku from 10 contestants for this contest. It is not too hard work to put on such contest, but even for a small one like this, it is tricky to keep track of email entries, so if I have forgotten your entry please let me know right away and I will get it up.

I thought about sneaking an entry of my own in, but I suspect that the judges, knowing me rather well, may have sniffed that out quite quickly. So here are my introductory haiku on the contest theme. If you wish to comment on these, do so here. If you wish to comment on the contestants’ haiku, please do so on the contest page. Enjoy!

the leaves translucent
stream glory upon glory;
trees like church windows

branches like leaden
window frames, bereft of glass,
gilt by warm creche light
