The Land of Fire Breathing Dragons – Wood River Refinery

Each time I drive home from my brother’s home late at night I want to take this shot. Last night, the sky was misty and spitting rain and my camera sat on a the front seat next to me. So I pulled over alongside of the highway, turned on my hazards, grabbed my extra shirt to serve as a tripod, and sat my camera on it on top of the roof of my car.

I am pretty pleased with the result. Be sure to zoom in to see the details, including the serendipitously appropriate “Gas” sign.

If one is brown and bearded, perhaps one should limit the number of times one might be found on the side of a highway photography refineries (I’m just saying), but I would love to shoot this just once more, on a moonlit winter night when there is a thin blanket of snow on the ground.

“Therefore, do not fear”

Last night I was closing up the church after the funeral of a dearly loved member and noticed someone had left one light on in the sanctuary. It made for lovely images both outside and in. And it encouraged me to know again that through faith in Jesus and his resurrection, I need not fear.
