Beauty in the Breakdown @ the Riverside Gallery

The Riverside Gallery in Webster Groves, Missouri, as a matter of course, holds exhibits in which 3 or more artists put on exhibits together. This itself embodies the Riverside’s aim to be a community centered gallery, as artists must collaborate and interact with one another in the very act of putting together a show, to explore how a cohesive theme might emerge from their collective work. I very much enjoyed meeting with Melanie Blunk Dolan and Jean White’s daughter to come up with the theme of “Beauty in the Breakdown.”

The title of the exhibit well describes much of my work, and I am pleased to present some new shots never exhibited before along with some favorites from recent exhibits. The theme also, though, embodies the beauty presented in the work of the other two artists. Jean White presents lovely nature and safari pictures, which truly celebrate life. And Melanie’s ink abstracts, which employ a technique she developed herself, well, you just have to see them in person. You will be, I believe, really moved by the amazing colors and contrasts and shapes in her work, along with the occasional apt phrases she adds to some of her pieces.

So come on out on Friday, November 20th for an opening reception from 7pm-10pm and check it out.

For my part, I am donating the gross proceeds from the sale of my work from this exhibit (minus a donation to the gallery) to Firm Foundation Tutoring, a ministry of my church which provides after-school and summer tutoring programs for children in the city of St. Louis, many of whom are the children of immigrants and refugees from around the world.

Please email me if you would like to purchase any of these framed prints. If you would like a preview of a better image of any of these works, let me know and I can email you a file, as these images are much grainier than the actual prints.

So, buy some art! It is for a great cause and Christmas is just around the corner!

Even if you buy a print via email, do still come out to the show (you will have to wait till the show is through to get your picture in any case). I think you will have a lovely time and see some amazing work which celebrates “Beauty in the Breakdown.”

Three months late, but I enjoyed finally getting to see your work … thanks for sharing! So many great ones to chose from but I particularly liked “Falling Slowly” and “Homeward Bound”. Hope everything went well with the exhibit!
