Bruised – Magnolia Blossoms
“wind-strewn magnolia” -Haiku for Easter Saturday
wind-strewn magnolia
blossoms fade; wild violets
bending keep vigil
In Dappled Light – Old Life and New
“sometimes a bright spring” – Good Friday Haiku
sometimes a bright spring
morning may turn into the
very darkest day
“some days ought not end” -Late night senryu on sorrow – Haiku
some days ought not end
for joy, some for sorrow; to
sleep, to wake to dawn
“this dusk like a long” – Indiana haiku
this dusk like a long
farewell, sky and plains imbued,
gold and rosy-hued
In the Light – Queen Magnolia at Dusk – St. Louis, Missouri
One of the disadvantages of having a lovely magnolia in my yard is that I have not had as much motivation to get out and photograph all the other lovely ones thought the city, and there are a lot of them!
Also, I normally present my images in the order in which they were shot, as I do here. There are 14 shots in this post, and I think it would really behoove you to make sure you check out the latter ones, as there are some lovely light-filled ones, rather in contrast to my normal beauty within the dimness approach 🙂 Enjoy.
For the Sins of the World – 16th Century Spanish Processional Crucifix – St. Louis Art Museum
Sad Like a Ruined Church – Glorious Ruin – Fourth Baptist Demolition – Old North St. Louis
Here are two panoramas I took recently, the first of which is technically more sound. In the second, I forgot to use the same exposure for each of the shots and so, despite some attempts at remedy, I got this pieced together, reconstructed look, which along with the lomography effect that I employed, actually looks rather interesting and contributes to the theme of the image, I feel. I did want to acknowledge, though, that it was a happy accident, derived from a sad, sad scene.
